Ingredients
  

Cake Base
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
Filling
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream whipped
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar for sweetening cream
Topping
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate shavings
  • 1/4 cup cherries for garnish

Method
 

Prepare Cake Base
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add egg, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Stir in boiling water until well combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool completely before cutting into bite-sized pieces.
Assemble Cake Bites
  1. Using a cookie cutter, cut out small circles from the cooled cake.
  2. In a bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  3. Place a dollop of cherry filling on top of each cake circle, followed by a layer of whipped cream.
  4. Top with another cake circle and repeat the process to create layers.
  5. Finish with chocolate shavings and a cherry on top for garnish.
