  • 1 lb breakfast sausage crumbled
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk whole or 2%
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cubed bread preferably day-old
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Preparation

  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the crumbled sausage until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat.

  4. In the prepared baking dish, layer the cubed bread, cooked sausage, and shredded cheese.
  5. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, sausage, and cheese layers.
  6. Let the casserole sit for 10 minutes to allow the bread to soak up the egg mixture.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
